How to Time Botox Before Big Events

Botox

Whether it’s your wedding day, a milestone birthday, a big vacation, or a holiday gathering, everyone wants to look and feel their best. Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments for smoothing fine lines, refreshing your appearance, and giving your skin a subtle, rejuvenated glow—but timing is everything.

At Revive Med Spa, we’re often asked: "When should I get Botox before a big event?" Let’s break down the ideal timeline so you can plan ahead and feel confident walking into any celebration.

Why Timing Matters for Botox

Botox doesn’t work instantly. After your treatment, it takes 3 to 7 days to begin working and up to 14 days to see full results. Minor swelling, redness, or bruising can also occur immediately post-treatment, which is why giving yourself some buffer time is key.

The Ideal Botox Timeline Before Big Events

Here’s a guide to help you plan your Botox appointment based on your event type:

Weddings

  • When to get Botox: 4 to 6 weeks before the big day

  • Why: This gives time for results to settle and allows for any needed touch-ups about 2 weeks after your first appointment. You’ll look fresh but still natural in photos.

Vacations

  • When to get Botox: 2 to 4 weeks before departure

  • Why: You’ll have enough time for results to kick in and for any side effects to resolve. Avoid scheduling Botox right before a sunny or tropical trip—wait at least 24-48 hours before flying or sun exposure.

Holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)

  • When to get Botox: 3 to 4 weeks before the festivities

  • Why: Appointments fill up fast during the holiday season. Booking ahead ensures you’re photo-ready without last-minute stress.

What to Avoid After Botox

  • No strenuous exercise for 24 hours

  • Avoid lying flat for 4 hours

  • Skip alcohol and excessive sun exposure post-treatment

  • Avoid facials, massages, or laser treatments for about 1 week

Planning a Touch-Up?

If it's your first time getting Botox or you're aiming for precise results (especially for something as important as a wedding), schedule a follow-up appointment 2 weeks before your event. This gives your provider time to fine-tune if needed.

Botox is an art—and like all good things, it takes time. Planning ahead ensures you don’t feel rushed and that your skin has time to settle into that refreshed, natural look.

At Revive Med Spa, our expert injectors are here to guide you with personalized treatment timelines, so you look your best on your big day—whatever that may be.
